How it works

What this tool does
The picture is reduced to a grid of points. Each point gets a height from its brightness: bright areas become high, dark areas low, or the other way round if you turn it around. This makes a relief with a closed base, which printing programs can use.
This is not a reconstruction of a 3D object from a photo and it uses no artificial intelligence. A portrait photo becomes a relief of its brightness, not a bust.
Two kinds of relief
"Smooth relief" turns the brightness into a gentle surface. "Steps" raises every point above a brightness limit by a fixed height with vertical walls, which suits logos, stencils and black and white drawings.
Transparent areas count as dark.
Limits
Pictures up to 50 MB are processed. The relief has at most about 300 points on its long side and stays within the triangle limit of 2,000,000.

No. It is turned into a relief in your browser.
Does it make a 3D model of the object in the photo?
No. It makes a relief from the brightness of the picture. It is not an AI reconstruction.
Which pictures work best?
High contrast pictures such as logos, drawings and silhouettes. Photos give a relief of their light and dark areas.
Can I print the result?
The relief has a closed base and is meant for printing. Check it in your printing program as usual.
