Guide and details
How it works
- Choose a PDF file or drag it onto the field above. Page previews appear.
- Convert all pages, or select pages by tapping the previews or typing numbers such as 1,3-5.
- Open “Resolution and quality” if you want a different sharpness or file size. The default of 150 DPI suits most uses.
- Select “Convert pages”. Download single pictures or all of them as a ZIP file.
What happens to text and drawings
A JPG is a picture made of pixels. When a page is converted, its text and drawings are drawn at the size you choose and then stored as pixels. They can no longer be selected, copied or searched, and links stop working. Enlarging a JPG afterwards never makes it sharper, because the pixels are all there is.
Pages are drawn on a white background, as a PDF viewer shows them. JPG has no transparency. Photos inside the PDF cannot gain detail beyond what they contain: a higher resolution only gives more pixels.
Resolution and file size
DPI means pixels per inch of the page. The size of a picture is the page size in inches times the DPI, rounded to whole pixels. An A4 page (8.27 × 11.69 inches) is 595 × 842 pixels at 72 DPI, 1,240 × 1,754 at 150 DPI and 2,480 × 3,508 at 300 DPI. The tool shows the exact size for your first chosen page.
The chosen DPI is also written into every JPG as its print resolution, so programs that read it show the page at its real size. This is only a label and changes no pixels. The quality setting controls how strongly JPG compresses: 90% keeps very good quality in much smaller files.
Very large pages and very high resolutions need a lot of memory. If a page would be larger than 50 megapixels (16.8 on smartphones), the tool asks you to choose a lower resolution instead of failing silently.
Limits
PDF files up to 100 MB (50 MB on smartphones and devices with little memory) can be converted, up to 100 pages at a time (50 on smartphones). Together the pictures can be up to 400 MB. Previews are shown for files up to 40 MB.
PDF files protected by a password or by restrictions are not processed. The tool never runs scripts from a PDF and loads nothing from the internet. The limits for smartphones are cautious assumptions, not guarantees.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The pages are drawn and converted in your browser. The file is never sent to AnyConvertor or to any other server.
Which resolution should I choose?
72 DPI gives small pictures for screens, 150 DPI suits most uses such as sharing or presentations, and 300 DPI is sharp enough for printing. Higher values make larger files.
Can I convert only some pages?
Yes. Select pages by tapping the previews or by typing page numbers such as 1,3-5.
How do I get several pages at once?
Several pages are offered as a ZIP file that contains one JPG per page, named in page order. You can also download each picture on its own.
Why can I not select the text in the JPG?
A JPG contains only pixels. The tool does not recognise text. If you need text, keep the PDF or use a tool that does text recognition.
Should I choose JPG or PNG?
JPG makes smaller files and suits pages with photos. PNG stores every pixel exactly and keeps text and sharp edges clean, but the files are larger.
