90%

90% keeps very good quality at a much smaller file size. Lower values produce smaller files.

JPG does not support transparency. Transparent areas are filled with this colour.

Guide and details

How it works
  1. Choose a PNG file or drag it onto the field above.
  2. Your browser converts the image straight away, usually in under a second.
  3. Optional: open the advanced settings to change the JPG quality or the background colour for transparent areas.
  4. Select “Download JPG” to save the result.
Choosing the right JPG quality

JPG uses lossy compression: it saves space by discarding fine detail that is hard to see. The quality setting controls this trade-off. The default of 90% keeps images visually very close to the original while noticeably reducing the file size, especially for photos.

Lower values produce smaller files but can cause visible blocky artefacts, especially around text and sharp edges. For screenshots, logos or graphics with text, PNG often remains the better format. JPG is ideal for photos and images with smooth colour gradients.

What happens to transparent areas

PNG can store transparency, JPG cannot. Transparent and semi-transparent pixels are therefore placed on a background colour, which is white by default. In the advanced settings you can choose any other colour, for example to match the background of your website or document.

Soft edges and shadows are blended smoothly with the chosen colour. If the PNG is animated, only the first frame is converted, because JPG cannot store animations.

Your images stay on your device

The conversion uses the image functions built into your browser. Your file is not uploaded to AnyConvertor or to any other server. Once the page has loaded, the converter even works without an internet connection.

Metadata embedded in the PNG, such as text comments, is not copied into the JPG.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PNG to JPG converter free?

Yes. You can use it free of charge, without registration and without watermarks.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Your browser reads and converts the file locally on your device. The image is never sent to AnyConvertor or to third parties.

How large can my PNG file be?

You can convert files up to 50 MB. To keep your browser stable, images are limited to 50 megapixels, or 16.8 megapixels on smartphones and devices with little memory.

Will the JPG look exactly like the PNG?

Almost. JPG compression always removes a little detail, which is hardly visible at the default quality of 90%. Transparent areas are filled with the background colour, because JPG does not support transparency.
