Guide and details
How it works
- Choose one or more PNG images or drag them onto the field above. Each image becomes one page.
- Put the pages in the right order with the arrow buttons and remove images you do not want.
- Open “Page settings” if you want another page size, margins or orientation. The preview shows every page as it will look. The defaults suit most documents.
- Select “Create PDF”, then “Download PDF”.
Image quality and transparency
PNG images without transparency are put into the PDF with their pixel data unchanged. Nothing is compressed with loss, and the image is not decoded and encoded again.
PNG images with transparent areas stay transparent in the PDF. Most programs show a PDF page on white, so transparent areas look white there. PNG images that a PDF cannot hold as they are, such as images with transparency or interlaced images, are decoded by your browser and stored without losing pixels. This can make the PDF larger, and 16 bit colour is reduced to 8 bit in that case.
Page size, margins and print resolution
The default is A4 with a small margin and automatic orientation. You can also choose A5, US Letter, a page as large as each image, or your own size in millimetres or centimetres.
A PDF page is measured in inches and millimetres, an image in pixels. A larger page does not create new detail: the same pixels are spread over more paper. The preview shows how many pixels fall on each inch of the page. Screenshots usually have few pixels, so they print sharply only at a small size.
If you choose “Fill the page and crop”, parts of an image are cut off. They are hidden, not deleted, and stay inside the PDF. Do not use this to hide something you do not want to share.
Limits
You can add up to 100 images (50 on smartphones and devices with little memory), each up to 50 MB and 50 megapixels (16.8 on smartphones), and up to 200 MB in total. The PDF can be up to 300 MB.
The text in an image is not recognised, so the PDF cannot be searched. The limits for smartphones are cautious assumptions, not guarantees. If a device runs out of memory, the tool shows a message and creates no file.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. The PDF is created in your browser. Your images are never sent to AnyConvertor or to any other server.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. Transparent areas stay transparent inside the PDF. Most programs draw a PDF page on white, so you will see white there.
Can I put several images into one PDF?
Yes. Every image becomes one page. You can change the order with the arrow buttons and remove images before you create the PDF.
Why is the PDF larger than my PNG files?
Opaque PNG files are copied unchanged, so the size is about the same. Images with transparency or interlacing have to be decoded by your browser first and are stored without loss, which can take more space.
Which page size should I choose?
A4 is the usual size in Europe, US Letter in the United States and Canada. “Same as the image” makes each page exactly as large as its picture.
