Convert WebP to JPG
Save WebP images as JPG, the format that practically every program, phone and print service can open. The conversion runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

90% keeps very good quality at a much smaller file size. Lower values produce smaller files.
JPG does not support transparency. Transparent areas are filled with this colour.
Guide and details
How it works
- Choose a WebP file or drag it onto the field above. Images saved from websites are often WebP files.
- The JPG is created right away with 90% quality and a white background for transparent areas.
- Optional: open the advanced settings to change the quality or the background colour.
- Select “Download JPG” to save the image.
Why convert WebP to JPG
Many websites deliver images as WebP because the files are small. When you save such an image, some older image viewers, office programs, upload forms or print services cannot open it. JPG works almost everywhere.
Transparency and animations
WebP can contain transparent areas, JPG cannot. Transparent pixels are placed on a background colour, white by default, which you can change in the advanced settings.
An animated WebP cannot become an animated JPG. The converter saves the first frame as a still image and tells you when a file was animated.
Quality and file size
Most WebP images are already compressed with losses, and JPG compresses them again. The default of 90% keeps the visible quality very close to the WebP. The JPG is often somewhat larger, because JPG compresses less efficiently.
Embedded metadata and colour profiles are not copied: the JPG is saved in the sRGB colour space. The conversion takes place entirely on your device.
Frequently asked questions
Why can I not open a WebP image?
Some older programs and services do not support WebP. Converting the image to JPG makes it usable almost everywhere.
What happens to transparent parts of the image?
They are filled with a background colour, white by default. You can choose another colour in the advanced settings.
Can I convert animated WebP files?
Only as a still image. The first frame is saved as a JPG, and the converter tells you that the file was animated.
Why is the JPG larger than the WebP?
WebP usually compresses images more efficiently than JPG. At similar visual quality, the JPG therefore often needs more space.
