Guide and details

How it works
  1. Choose one or more JPG images or drag them onto the field above. Each image becomes one page.
  2. Put the pages in the right order with the arrow buttons and remove images you do not want.
  3. Open “Page settings” if you want another page size, margins or orientation. The preview shows every page as it will look. The defaults suit most documents.
  4. Select “Create PDF”, then “Download PDF”.
Image quality

JPG images are put into the PDF as they are. The picture data is not compressed again, so photos keep their quality and the PDF stays about as small as the originals. Camera data and location information stored in photos are not copied into the PDF. A photo that is stored turned, as many phone pictures are, appears upright.

Images in special variants that a PDF cannot hold as they are, for example CMYK photos, are converted by your browser without losing pixels. This can make the PDF larger. Colour profiles of ordinary photos are kept.

Page size, margins and print resolution

The default is A4 with a small margin and automatic orientation: landscape photos get landscape pages and portrait photos get portrait pages. You can also choose A5, US Letter, a page as large as each image, or your own size in millimetres or centimetres.

A PDF page is measured in inches and millimetres, a photo in pixels. A larger page does not create new detail: the same pixels are spread over more paper. The preview shows how many pixels fall on each inch of the page. Around 150 pixels per inch or more usually prints well. Below 100 a picture can look coarse.

If you choose “Fill the page and crop”, parts of a photo are cut off. They are hidden, not deleted, and stay inside the PDF. Do not use this to hide something you do not want to share.

Limits

You can add up to 100 images (50 on smartphones and devices with little memory), each up to 50 MB and 50 megapixels (16.8 on smartphones), and up to 200 MB in total. The PDF can be up to 300 MB.

The text in a photo is not recognised, so the PDF cannot be searched. The limits for smartphones are cautious assumptions, not guarantees. If a device runs out of memory, the tool shows a message and creates no file.

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The PDF is created in your browser. Your photos are never sent to AnyConvertor or to any other server.

Does the PDF reduce the quality of my photos?

No. The picture data of JPG files is copied into the PDF unchanged and is not compressed again. Only photos in special variants, such as CMYK, are converted, and without losing pixels.

Can I put several photos into one PDF?

Yes. Every photo becomes one page. You can change the order with the arrow buttons and remove photos before you create the PDF.

Which page size should I choose?

A4 is the usual size in Europe, US Letter in the United States and Canada. “Same as the image” makes each page exactly as large as its picture, which is useful if the PDF is only for viewing on a screen.

Why does the preview show pixels per inch?

It tells you how sharp a picture will print on that page. Many pixels per inch print sharply. A small picture on a large page has few and can look coarse.

Are location data and camera information kept?

No. Camera data and GPS information stored in photos are not copied into the PDF.
