Convert SVG to PNG

Create a PNG of the size you need from an SVG graphic. The file is sanitized and drawn in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

Guide and details

How it works
  1. Choose an SVG file or drop it onto the area above.
  2. Check the preview of the cleaned graphic. The PNG is created automatically at the original size, and small graphics are enlarged to about 512 pixels.
  3. If needed choose 1×, 2×, 4× or enter width and height in pixels. With “Keep aspect ratio” the second value follows.
  4. Choose “Download PNG”.
Why SVG files need extra care

SVG is not just a picture but an XML document. It can contain scripts, event attributes, references to files on the web, fonts and stylesheets. A graphic that looks right is therefore no proof that it is harmless.

AnyConvertor reads the file with its own strict XML parser that allows no custom entities and no DTD extensions, and builds a new document from an allowlist of permitted elements and attributes. Scripts, event attributes and animations are removed and noted in the result. Files with foreignObject, feImage, external references, @import, @font-face, CSS escapes or reference loops are rejected with an explanation. The cleaned graphic is only loaded as an image and painted onto a canvas, never inserted into the page. That is an extra layer of protection: even inside an image the browser neither runs scripts nor loads anything from elsewhere.

This is not a guarantee that every conceivable file is harmless. It is a transparent approach with several independent limits.

Size, transparency and fonts

Transparent areas stay transparent in the PNG. The output may be up to 8,192 pixels per side and at most 50 megapixels, on smartphones and devices with little memory 16.8 megapixels. The SVG file itself may be up to 10 MB, embedded images together up to 20 MB.

Foreign fonts are not loaded. Text appears in the fonts installed on your device, and missing fonts are replaced. The tool tells you when the graphic contains text. For an exact result convert text to paths in your drawing program first. Images inside the SVG must be embedded (PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP as a data URL).

Frequently asked questions

Is my SVG file uploaded?

No. Checking, cleaning and drawing run locally in your browser. The file is sent neither to AnyConvertor nor to third parties.

Which SVG files are rejected?

Files with foreignObject, feImage, external references (files or web addresses), @import, @font-face, CSS escapes, custom XML entities, reference loops or an extreme number of elements. Files with neither a fixed size nor a viewBox are rejected too, because no image size can be determined.

Why does the text look different?

The browser draws text with the fonts on your device. If the font named in the SVG file is not installed, another one is used. Convert the text to paths first if the look must be exact.

Are animations kept?

No. Animations and scripts are removed, and the PNG shows the graphic without motion. The tool notes this in the result.

Does quality hold up at large sizes?

Yes, SVG is a vector graphic and is redrawn for the size you choose. Embedded pixel images do not become sharper, though.
