Prepare 3D Models for Printing
Before sending a 3D model to your printer, several preparation steps ensure a successful print. This checklist covers the most important points.
Preparation Checklist
- Check Manifold: The mesh must be watertight (no holes, no non-manifold edges).
- Fix Normals: All face normals must point outward.
- Wall Thickness: Minimum 0.8mm for FDM, 0.5mm for SLA.
- Orientation: Place the model to minimize supports.
- Scale: Verify units (mm vs inches) match your printer settings.
- Export Format: Use STL or 3MF for best compatibility.
